Ian Vaillancourt was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario on March 24, 1977.  His family moved many times in his early childhood, until 1986 when they settled in Oshawa, Ontario, where Ian spent the remainder of his growing up years.  He grew up in the church, but came to saving faith in Christ in 1996 at the age of nineteen.  He immediately enrolled in a Bible class in Toronto and became heavily involved at Calvary Baptist Church, in Oshawa.  A year later Ian moved to Saskatchewan to attend Briercrest Bible College (1997-1998).  Here Ian discovered a love for studying God’s Word, and for sharing Christ with the lost (through a weekly visit to the Regina Jail).

Ian completed his Bachelor of Theology (BTh) studies at Tyndale College, in Toronto (1998-2001).  During these years Ian appreciated the theological mentoring of Dr. Robert Duez, and the pastoral mentoring of Ryan Fullerton, Clint Humfrey, Stephen Beck, and Tim Berends.  While at Tyndale Ian was heavily involved at Grace Toronto Church (Presbyterian Church of America – 1998-2002).  During his last two years at Grace Toronto Ian was on staff as the Resident Pastor of the church’s ‘20-somethings’ ministry.  Growing Baptistic convictions, coupled with an irresistible call to pastoral ministry led to his resignation from (the Presbyterian) Grace Toronto Church in the fall of 2002.

Ian then completed a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) degree at Tyndale Seminary (2002-2004), where he was able to focus on the academic areas that his pastoral internship revealed to be the weakest.  During these years Ian took all the historical theology classes he could with Dr. Victor Shepherd and all the Old Testament classes he could with Dr. Donald Leggett.  While at Tyndale Seminary Ian was a member at Grace Fellowship Church, Toronto, Ontario.  As part of this Sovereign Grace Baptist Church plant, Ian appreciated the pastoral mentoring of Rev. Paul Martin.

On June 26, 2004 Ian married Natalie Heidebrecht.  In January 2005 Ian and Natalie Vaillancourt moved to Binbrook, in response to an initial interim call for Ian at Binbrook Baptist Church.  In April 2005 the congregation at Binbrook Baptist voted Ian their full time pastor.  Ian and Natalie marvel at the way God has placed them in Binbrook.  They are also excited to share that they are expecting the birth of their first child in December 2005.
